Interview with GRANSHAW
1. How did you all meet?
Well this band was a totally different band when I discovered these guys through a Craigslist ad looking for a vocalist. They were a southern rock band looking to go heavier and adding me on vocals helped facilitate that dream and over the years we got heavier and heavier until we got to the point where we are at now, which is where we want to be.
2. How did you come up with the band name?
The name first came about as a variation of the name of a fucked up criminal mental ward which was spelled a little bit differently so we changed the spelling a little bit so that it would look how it sounded and out came GRANSHAW.
3. How did the pandemic affect you?
The pandemic totally screwed us this year as far as playing live shows. We had a number of gigs already lined up, some of them very big shows, and they all had to go away for the most part besides a couple outside ones that didn’t cancel. So we’ve been trying to work on new material and finish writing and recording our new EP, Unimportant.
4. What do you hope people will get from your music?
We hope that people take from our music a sense of nostalgia. Our roots are in 90s metal so we try to stick with that integrity but put our own modern groove style to it. We hope to share a brutal groove sound with no gimmicks attached.
5. Where do I see the band in a year?
Hopefully we’ll be back to playing shows regularly and we’ll already have this new EP released, which is some of our best work to date. We also have a new music video in the works that will hopefully be out soon for the next single off the new EP.
