Interview with JD from Angels on the Battlefield

Q: How did you all meet?
Angels on the Battlefield was put together in order to connect with people and inspire them through original music. It’s fantastic to see the enthusiasm people have when given the opportunity to join such a positive community.

Q: How did you come up with the name of the band?
The name “Angels on the Battlefield” combines the image what we consider near perfection with the image of literal hell on earth. In life, we experience good and bad things. Perhaps one of the most difficult lessons to learn is to focus on the good with the bad putting things into perspective.

Q: Tell us a funny story from one of your tours or at band practice.
Well, two of the songs on the EP Over Darkened Skies were recorded with JUST an iPhone! Man, I love technology.

Q: Who are your biggest influences?
That is a difficult question! So many positive influences. In life, I’d have to say my best friend and manager Thomas J. Bellezza is my biggest influence. Without him, I would not be living a life with a career I love. My aunt is also a very big influence for me; she’s taught me the value of love, support, and family. Musically, Randy Rhoads is my favorite guitarist. And my top three favorite bands are Killswitch Engage, In Flames, and Periphery.

Q: Have you ever collaborated with any other artists/bands in the past? If so, who?
Over the last few years, I’ve performed and toured with Voodoo Kungfu and Nekrogoblikon. I’ve also worked with a bunch of wonderful people doing studio session in Los Angeles and New York. I love working with other people to bring their art to life because there is this pure and genuine joy everyone has. Working with others also allows you to learn more about music, recording, and yourself as a person. Music is an ever-evolving philosophy, and working with other people allows you to see things from a new perspective.

Q: What do you hope people take from your music and what messages are you trying to share with listeners?
I want people to know that they ALL have the power to follow their hearts. Music helped me find my strength and helped me make sense of the world. I want to give to others what I found for myself.

Q: Where do you see yourself and your band in a year? Any big plans?
Well, the debut EP Over Darkened Skies will be released on August 2nd, 2019! I’ll also be moving from Los Angeles, CA to Brooklyn, NY to work with the production company BBR Productions. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is to always lend a hand when possible. Working with BBR will allow me to help a good friend directly, and will also allow me to help others bring reality to their dreams. I’m also looking forward to more performances, charity shows, and some straight-up heavy metal! I keep my website up to date with all news, events, and tours:
